I have desperately tried to remain UPBEAT this week and, in all honesty, it has been incredibly tough. Things began to unravel for us on Saturday lunchtime when we had to cancel a weekend of celebrations due to illness. We were utterly deflated and basically this set the tone for the rest of the week.
As I’m often branded a pessimist by my own father (thanks dad), I am determined that my blog, for the most part, will be a whinge free zone. So don’t panic, I am sparing you the gory ins and outs of our week. Instead I have chosen to share the things that made me smile and got me through to Friday...
- SLEEP - Poppy moved into her own room and finally dropped the night feeds so I have had my first full nights’ sleep (yes multiple) in almost nine months. Hooray!
- DISNEY - I managed to take all three little ones to see Finding Dory at the cinema and we also watched lots of classic Disney films at home. Thank you Walt.
- A PLAN - Theo had a very positive appointment at the dental hospital. He is going to be reviewed again in six months with a view to commencing treatment. You can read more about our family’s dental issues here.
- MILESTONES - Poppy started pulling herself up and cruising the furniture. Is this a good thing? I’m not so sure, but it certainly made me smile!
- SIBLING BONDING - We played lots of games, read lots of books and did some drawing. It was great watching Izzie and Theo play properly together. He learns so much from her and he teaches her the need for patience and understanding!
- DISTRACTIONS - I won’t lie, my new phone together with blogging, reading and watching the Olympics have also been fantastic distractions from the grim realities!
I’ve got everything crossed that this week will be better but, if its not, I’ll take Dory’s advice and “just keep swimming”!
This is all very upbeat, great to find the positives when you're having a tough week - it does keep you going, doesn't it? Yay to Poppy dropping the night feeds and best of luck with that cruising! Thanks for sharing with #WotW x
ReplyDeleteThank you, writing the post and reflecting on the week certainly helped :)
DeleteI love this. Finding the positives when things are tough, is so hard, yet so important. Thanks for sharing and keep smiling!
ReplyDeleteStill smiling Laura! Thank you for popping by x
DeleteWell done for staying upbeat! We have had sickness in our house and I moaned about it on my Word of the Week. lol It sounds like a lovely week x
ReplyDeleteUrgh there seem to be a lot of summer bugs flying around. Hope your household is feeling better now :)
DeleteSometimes it's hard to find the positives when you are having a rough time but you have done really well putting that list together, sometimes adding up all the little good things really does help. Hope next week is better for you. #WotW
ReplyDeleteYes Angela even the little things can help, certainly making a list put things into perspective :)
Delete"Just keep swimming" is good advice. Sorry to hear that you've had a tough week - glad you are able to focus on the positives but hope next week will be a better one. Being able to have a full night's sleep is amazing and well done to Poppy on starting to cruise around the furniture. Glad to hear Theo had a positive appointment at the dental hospital too and how lovely that he and Izzy have been playing so nicely together. #WotW
ReplyDeleteAw what a lovely comment Louise. Thank you for taking the time to read and comment.Yes, looking back the sleep definitely helped me survive :)
DeleteAww what lovely list to read! I actually feel better after reading hehe. Its always nice to read some positive post and I am loving the olympics too! #wotw
ReplyDeleteI just love your photo of your little Poppy, really cute and glad to hear you have your nights back! It sounds like you're really feeling positive about things and there always is a silver lining in every cloud.
ReplyDeleteAs for the Olympics, that's what's been keeping me awake these last few weeks! hehehe!!
#WoTW
Oh the Olympics were so fab. And Poppy well I know I'm biased but yep she is a total cutie and still sleeping too - hooray!
Deleteits sometimes hard to focus on the small things that make us happy and I have to remind myself too a lot of the time. I spent a whole year - 2014 - writing down one happy thought per day and saving them in a jar. lol. it made me focus on small things each day though #KCACOLS
ReplyDeleteThis is such a brilliant idea -perhaps an idea for 2017 for me :)
DeleteIt's great to hear that you've had some upbeat moments diring your week. I wonder if Finding Dory is a great sequel.#WotW
ReplyDeleteFinding Dory is fab - GO SEE IT!!!
DeleteSorry to hear about the illness - hope you're all better now. Yay for some good times though! Hmm not sure about the walking - of course it's great hbut now you'll need eyes in the back of your head! And YAY FOR SLEEP!!! #KCACOLS
ReplyDeleteI most definitely need eyes everywhere! She is pulling herself up all the time, nothing is safe!
DeleteAh I am so sorry about your holiday thats rubbish but glad you are being positive. Once little ones start cruising there is no going back ! Was Dory fab? We went to see the BFG I loved it x
ReplyDeleteDory was fantastic. She makes a very cute tiny fish! We loved it. I'm worried the BFG may be a bit scary for mine yet but I really want to see it! #MumProblems ;)
DeleteWell done for focusing on the positives when things are tough. Thanks for linking up to #TheList x
ReplyDeleteThank you and thank you for hosting #TheList :)
